News & Events  Wheeling Village Views:Westin-North Shore Looks to Call Wheeling Home The proposition of a 400-room, four-star hotel and convention center has placed Wheeling firmly in the spotlight, and for good reason. Developers from Mid-America Investment and Development Company of Oak Brook outlined their proposal to build the estimated $100-million, 400-room Westin North Shore Hotel to the Villiage Board, staff members and guests at a late February meeting and received a resounding seal of approval. Crain's Chicago Business: Red-Hot Area for Retail: Southwest Suburbs By the U.S. Census Bureau's reckoning, the three fastest-growing towns in Illinois are southwest suburban Romeoville, Oswego and Plainfield. No surprise, then, that retail developers are sprinting to put up shopping centers there. David P. Bossy brokered the deal to bring Swedish home furnishings giant Ikea to Bolingbrook and is proposing a center devoted to home furnishings retailers nearby in Romeoville. He's bringing a Wisconsin grocery chain, Woodman's Food Markets Inc., to North Aurora to anchor a shopping center and is investing in smaller projects in Shorewood and Yorkville.
