David P. Bossy, Chairman

David P. Bossy is chairman of Mid-America Development Partners, a full-service commercial real estate firm specializing in retail and shopping center development.

With Michael D. Firsel, he founded the company in 2001, following a 25-year career as one of Chicagoland’s most successful retail real estate brokers.

During that period, he spent six years with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate, leaving in 1984 to establish Mid-America Real Estate Corporation, pioneers in retail tenant brokerage that has represented more than 100 national and regional chains. In 1992, he co-founded Mid-America Asset Management Company, which currently has a portfolio of 20 million square feet of retail centers.

Since making the move to development, Bossy has completed 75 projects totaling more than 10 million square feet of commercial and residential space. He has consistently been recognized for his accomplishments, including an award by the Chicago Sun-Times as 1997’s Retail Broker of the Year.

Away from work, he serves on local boards for social service agencies UNICEF, Little Sisters of the Poor, and Park Ridge (Ill.) Youth Campus. He also is on board of The Private Bank, Oak Brook, Ill.

In 2006 he received the Anti-Defamation League’s 2006 Arthur Rubloff Humanitarianism award.

A Montreal native, Bossy holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. He attended college on a hockey scholarship, and later played for the World Hockey Association’s Quebec Nordiques.

He and his wife, Debbie, have five children and live in Hinsdale, Ill.
Michael D. Firsel, President

Michael D. Firsel is president of Mid-America Development Partners, a full-service commercial real estate firm specializing in retail and shopping center development.

With David P. Bossy, he founded the company in 2001, helping grow it to its current status with more than 40 projects in various stages of development.

Firsel began his career in the early 1970s representing developers as a real estate attorney. Through the years, his expertise in tax increment financing and other aspects of municipal finance put him in demand as a counsel to Chicago-area municipalities involved with redevelopment.

In 1999, he transitioned from real estate attorney to real estate developer, establishing Firson Investment & Development Company with prominent Chicago developer Gerald W. Fogelson. Together, they developed projects including the La Grange Triangle redevelopment project in downtown La Grange, Ill.

Away from work, Firsel is on the executive committee advisory board for Roosevelt University’s Chicago School of Real Estate. He also has served on the Arlington Heights, Ill., plan commission for eight years, including five years as chairman.

Firsel is a Chicago native. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and a law degree from DePaul University.

He and his wife, Sandra, live in Vernon Hills, Ill. They have two grown sons, both active in the real estate business.
Adam D. Firsel, Vice President
Adam Firsel coordinates development projects from conception through completion, negotiating purchase agreements with land sellers, managing tenant leasing, overseeing construction, presenting zoning for projects to municipalities, and handling budgeting and scheduling. Firsel joined the company in 2003, following three years in the banking industry. Since joining Mid-America Development Partners, he has overseen $900 million of financings involving 70 loans with over 25 different lenders. Firsel holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he majored in real estate and urban land economics. He also studied finance and international business at American InterContinental University’s London branch campus.
  Richard G. Golab, Vice President and General Counsel
Richard Golab oversees legal transactions for Crescendo’s two real estate development companies – Mid-America Development Partners and The Harp Group – as well as its other entities: Portfolio Management, Mid-America Capital, Mid-America Development Services and Copa Chicago. He also monitors outside counsel on a project basis. Previously, Golab spent 18 years with Chicago law firm Schain, Burney, Ross & Citron, where he was an equity owner and partner representing clients in commercial and residential development transactions. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from DePaul University. He resides in downtown Chicago.
Timothy Bossy, Vice President
Timothy Bossy has responsibility for the Mid-America’s land acquisition and development activities, and has been involved in acquiring more than one million acres of vacant land. Bossy joined the company in 2003, following 15 years with tenant brokerage firm Mid-America Real Estate Corporation. During that time, he negotiated retail leases totaling more than one million square feet for major clients including Toys ‘R’ Us and Microcenter. A Montreal native, he studied economics at McGill University before relocating to Chicago to work with his brother, David Bossy, co-founder of Mid-America Real Estate Corporation and chairman of Mid-America Development Partners.
  Timothy J. Flanagan, Vice President
Timothy Flanagan supervises the company’s largest commercial shopping center development projects. Flanagan joined the company in 2001 with 13 years of commercial and residential real estate development experience. During that time, he developed numerous business parks and negotiated transactions with many prominent clients, including Dunbar Armored Car, Hancock Insurance, ITW, Kraft Foods, and Mutual of New York. Flanagan holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Purdue University. He lives in Frankfort, Ill., with his wife and their two children.
David Hene, Vice President
David Hene supervises the Mid-America Development’s retail and mixed-use projects, overseeing site acquisition, marketing, planning, entitlement, leasing, and construction. Hene previously held real estate management positions with JPS Interests, Dominick’s Finer Foods, Albertsons/American Store Properties, and A. Epstein and Sons International. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in urban planning from the University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign, and also studied town planning at Oxford Polytechnic - England.

Caitlin M. Bossy, Sales Associate
Caitlin Bossy helps manage a portfolio of more than 30 Mid-America projects, comprising more than 8 million square feet of retail space, and is also involved with the company’s marketing efforts. Bossy joined the company in January 2006 after graduating from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in human and organizational development. During her college years she held jobs in retail, the not-for-profit sector, and in broadcasting. She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
  Jonathan Boyajian, Sales Associate
Jonathan Boyajian handles tenant representation and leasing for the company’s portfolio of more than 30 projects, comprising more than 8 million square feet of retail space. Boyajian joined the company in 2007 after beginning his career with Centex Homes as a new home sales consultant and estimator in Indianapolis. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in management and a minor in marketing. He also studied in Italy for a semester with the Consortium Institute of Management and Business Analysis. Boyajian holds Indiana and Illinois real estate sales licenses, and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He resides in Naperville, Ill.
Jim McIntosh , GIS Specialist
James N. McIntosh is the GIS Specialist for Mid-America Development Partners, LLC. In this role, he is responsible for all in-house mapping and aerial photographic technologies for Mid-Am’s leasing and development team. Projects McIntosh has produced have included trade area and demographic analyses for clients such as Fifth Third Bank and Woodman’s Food Markets which assist in their future site selection.

McIntosh came to Mid-Am in 2007 after graduating from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Geography certified in Geographic Information Systems. Before joining Mid-am, McIntosh served an internship in the public sector with the City of Mesa, Arizona planning division, currently the nation’s largest suburban community.

McIntosh resides in Elmhurst, IL. He is an active member of the Illinois GIS Association and the American Association of Geographers.
